Off Road Sports in Harlan County

Off Roading in Harlan County is more than just a sport. Harlan's vast trails and mountainous views are enjoyed by enthusiasts from all over the nation. Most of these trails were created by the local folks who have been riding these mountains for years. Riding and camping these trails is a wonderful way to explore nature, get outdoor exercise, breath the fresh air and for many it is a family outing.
There are several ATV Clubs in the area that offer everything from fundraisers, local events, to weekend long

competitions. Currently, the Harlan County Ridge Runners in Evarts holds the Guinness World Record for the Longest ATV Parade. The club set the record of 1,138 ATVs in a parade in the summer of 2006, surpassing the old record of 687 set in Hurley, Wisconsin. ATVAM is already preparing for summer 2009; their goal of course is to break the Ridge Runners 2006 record. Read the ATVAM announcement
here.
If you are an ATV club and you have an upcoming event please email it to the webmaster to be posted our
events calendar.
Want to hit some trails? You’re going to need an all terrain vehicle. It doesn't matter which is your ATV vehicle of choice. Many people like 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, 4 wheel drive jeeps or dune buggies. For many off roaders being on an open vehicle is the choice way to enjoy the outdoors. Many style and types are available.
Accesorizing isn't just for girls dolls or womens jewelry!
It's time to make that all terrain vehicle reflect who you are. These days you can add pretty much anything you want. Consider adding a snow plow to clear your yard or driveway or a wench for pulling your buddies out of the mud. Choose compartments, trailers, bumpers, guards, detail or hoods, the list just goes on.
There are also now helmets with speakers made in them that are really cool. You can see a wide range of styles at Helmet Audio.
If snow plow attachments are what you’re looking for check out the deals below, I've researched for the best price & quality combination. One thing I have found stands true you get what you pay for. Don't cheat yourself into buying something made of plastic, it won’t stand up to a heavy snow. It only takes one accident for your new toy be busted or broken, not to mention your own saftey is at stake as well.
When trail riding safety is always of the highest importance. We need to always make sure we have at the very least a basic first aid kit and other appropriate safety gear. If you never need the first aid kit, that’s wonderful. However, we always want to be prepared in the event that we do need it. Below are some recommended safety products. Remember even if you carry nothing more than your basic first aid kit you are off to a good start in being safety smart. The featured First Aid kit to the left is the type most recommended for off-road sports because it is airtight and watertight. There are other safety features one should consider as well such as helmet, goggles, not to mention recovery gear. Recovery gear is something that is easy to forget until our nice 4x4 is stuck. When this happens its best not to panic, just take it slow, have the equipment you need on hand and 'know how to use it correctly'. Many gruesome offroading deaths occur when recovering the vehicle, not in the accident itself.
